The present article is dedicated to the problem of the Russian diaspora in New Zealand in Russian and foreign historiography. The author examines the main research works targeted at the investigation of this topic, revealing the most studied aspects: the history of appearance and formation of the Russian diaspora in this country and the peculiarities of the position of the Russians in New Zealand society at the present stage. According to the analysis of historiography, we can state that the relevant issue of the Russian diaspora as a significant factor of soft power in the implementation of Russia's foreign policy towards New Zealand remains unexplored.
