Abstract:

The article examines the role of the United Nations in the resolution of the conflict on the territory of Cyprus. Since the 60s of the 20th century, the UN has dealt with the problem of Cyprus. In 1964 peacekeeping troops were introduced on the territory of Cyprus. The most significant contribution to the conflict resolution process was made by UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, who drafted a plan to resolve the conflict. However, the Cyprus conflict still remains unresolved, as the problem of disputed territories is extremely difficult to resolve.
