The article is devoted to consideration of prosopographic and biographical studies implemented by the Center for the history of Saint-Petersburg state University, established in 2011. These studies conducted in the framework of several projects on the history of the University and higher education carried out at the Institute of history, St. Petersburg state University. The author shows the achievements of the Center in this direction and analyzes the prospects for future work, its significance in the study of the history of Russian science.
